As you walk your life journey Jesus is always speaking to you. Jesus says, “Anyone who is willing to hear should listen and understand.”(Mark 9:4) We find that Jesus often met with his Disciples after he taught publicly to help them understand what He said. (Mark 4:34) Daily Jesus meets privately with you to help you understand His teaching. James 1:9 encourages us to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Throughout this book I have taken different portions of Scripture with the purpose of listening to Jesus for his specific message. After you have read the devotional each day take time to listen for the words Jesus is saying to you. Listening Prayer takes advantage of the fact that prayer is really a dialogue between you and Jesus. In Listening Prayer you soon begin to see the extent of the healing power of prayer.

A tool that is good to use in Listening Prayer is journaling. Following each of the devotions the question is asked, “What do I hear Jesus saying to me?” Take time to write down a few thoughts and then carry those words with you though the day. Live them and discover them. What I have written down may not be the same as your thoughts because you are in a different time and space. Jesus always deals with our own circumstances.

The following is a collection of devotions that I have gleaned over the years in my own personal encounter with Jesus. You will see that throughout the book I use many different portions of Scripture and have handled them in different ways. As an example, with the Fruit of the Spirit, I ask myself the question, “What is Jesus say to me about the fruit of love? In other cases like the Gospel of Mark I reflect on the question, “What would the private lesson be with His disciples on this teaching or experience?” Looking at the manifestation gift I ask, “What should my response be as I receive this gift?”
