Self-publishing helped me fulfill a dream.  The thought of traditional publishing was intimidating.  When I discovered self-publishing it was like peeling an onion, removing the barriers of the publishing industry and getting down to the core of getting the message of the Word of God out there. The focus was no longer on large quantities, high costs, rejection of material, and having boxes of books in the basement.

Self publishing freed me up to take personal responsibility and control to manage my own work.  Working in cooperation with a printer such as PageMaster helped me put my material in a form they could easily format.  They were able to help me with cover design, ISBN and code bar. The cost of self publishing a book was far less than the traditional method of publishing.

The challenging part for me has been marketing the books.  With self publishing it has been harder to get acknowledged by both national and local bookstores.  It seems these industries are just beginning to accept self publishing as a viable resource for good work.

My first book published in 2007 is called LISTENING – Daily Devotions for the Entire Year. Over the last seven years I have published 20 books.  The focus of my books is devotional. The series consists of Listening to Jesus through the Written Word.  All of my books put the letters of the New Testament into the words of Jesus.  Since I began I have printed a total of 8,000 books. After sales/distribution I have about 200 in stock.

This has been an exciting journey for me as I see people having a hunger for the word of God. Now that I have finished all the letters of the New Testament in individual book form my next adventure is to combine them together into one book called THE LISTENING BIBLE.
